At the Shalom Community Jewish Enrichment Program, we believe that the best Jewish learning happens when children are actively engaged, having fun, and building meaningful relationships. Rather than relying on lectures or worksheets alone, our students learn by doing—through discussion, games, creative projects, holiday celebrations, storytelling, music, hands-on activities, and real-world experiences that bring Jewish life to life.
Our curriculum balances the foundations of Jewish education with opportunities for exploration and discovery. Students learn about Jewish holidays, traditions, values, history, Israel, Hebrew language, and prayer while developing a deeper understanding of what it means to be part of the Jewish people. We encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and make personal connections to what they are learning.
Because every child learns differently, our classrooms are intentionally welcoming and supportive. Our experienced educators—including teachers with backgrounds in both Jewish education and special education—use a variety of teaching strategies to meet students where they are, helping every learner build confidence and experience success.
Our one-day-a-week schedule recognizes the realities of today's busy families while providing a meaningful, high-quality Jewish education. We focus on making every minute count by creating experiences that students look forward to each week and that families continue talking about long after class ends.
Above all, we believe Jewish education should inspire children to feel proud of who they are. Our goal isn't simply to teach facts or prepare students for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah—it's to help them develop a lasting connection to Jewish life, a strong sense of identity, and a community where they know they belong.
