A Message From Rabbi Andra Greenwald:

I am so often asked why there are no more miracles. Remember that parting of the Red Sea? The thunder and quaking at Mount Sinai when we received the Torah? Now, THOSE were miracles! And what about that small cruse of oil that lasted for eight days instead of just one-- the miracle we will celebrate over candles, latkes and jelly donuts later this month?

The Baal Shem Tov, the Master of the Good Name, told us that there are miracles happening all around us; we just have to take our hands off of our eyes to see them.

Remember that short stop just in the nick of time? The one that prevented a terrible accident?  When once composed, we blurted out, “Thank G-d!” Remember those lab results that came back 180 degrees different from what we had feared? And that time after trying and trying and trying, the doctor said, “You’re going to be parents?”

Yes, there are miracles happening all around us; let’s just look for them!

As we light the Chanukah candles in just a few days and recite the words, “She-asah nisim l’avoteinu,” Who performed miracles for our ancestors, may each of you be blessed with miracles of your own and may you see, and be inspired by, every one of them.

Kol tuv,

R’Andra
